This goofy boy of mine is smart.
So smart that his school has suggested moving him from 2nd grade to 3rd grade.
Details aside, they said socially and academically he will fit right in with the advanced third graders.
Do we move him?
Some brief info about him:
We are going to ask HIM what he wants to do and he is the type of kid who gets along with everyone. He knows some of the third graders because he has been reading with them since he was in kindergarten – since then they have taken him out of his classroom to the next grade for reading. He is a confident kid who embraces new things pretty well.
But he will go from being top dog to just one of the guys as far as academic achievements go. He will go from having the confidence that he can help others because he knows the material to having someone to “compete” with to challenge him – and potentially not be able to keep up. I’m just not sure which is better.
