What’s that smell?
There is a reason my blog carries the name it does, and that reason is because my nose is my super power.
If something smells, I usually have smelled it first. And you can keep your jokes about being the one who dealt it to yourself – it’s way cliche at this point.
Now usually when I ask “what’s that smell” it is in reference to something that doesn’t smell especially pleasant. Something that, despite my questioning, I might not actually want to know the answer to. Sometimes it’s just best not to know where funny smells come from.
But there are smells out there that I enjoy, and some of them have magical powers!
Ok, maybe I can’t say that they have magic powers, but some smells can have a positive effect on your physical and emotional health.
5 Things that Smell Good
I can’t imagine anyone who doesn’t like the smell of bacon. I think part of it is just that – hello – it tastes amazing, but another part of it is that we have been told for so long that it is not good for us that it feels indulgent. Especially for those of us who avoided it for so long and have now embraced a higher fat diet (the good fats). Bacon is like candy!
This is a no-brainer. Flowers smell good, are you usually sent from someone who cares about you and can really help lift your spirits. I can’t imagine anyone who would smell a flower and not feel better for at least a few minutes. They definitely can help relax you and put you in a good mood. Fresh flowers, like the ones you can find at http://www.freshflowers.com.au/ can also brighten up a room too, adding to that sense of peace and beauty.
Movie Theater Popcorn
The smell of movie theater popcorn is like nothing else in the world. It is associated with relaxation and entertainment. It is associated with fun! Much like bacon, I can’t imagine anyone who doesn’t like the smell of popcorn at the movie theater.
Have you ever walked past a dryer vent when the dryer was running and smelled the fabric softener? It smells so good and fresh. It makes me want to crawl in there all warm and snuggly and smelling clean.
No matter what someone’s personal preferences are, there is an essential oil that they will enjoy. Floral scents, mints, fruits, there are so many options that can be diffused into the air to make the room smell good and make you feel good. And many essential oils also have healing qualities as well.
