When I tell people I still have weight and toning that I want to achieve despite my over 50 lb weight loss, they usually wrinkle their brow and tell me I look great, I don’t need to lose anymore weight. When I try to explain that I have some areas I am not happy with they say that they don’t see it and leave me questioning whether I should worry about it.
The problem is, they don’t see what I see.
I know what you are thinking.
We all look in the mirror and see room for improvement. We all think we look heavier than we do. We all have imperfections that we dwell on that really should stop worrying about.
This is what you see:
Some people would give their right arm to look that good (insert sarcastic tone here).
You don’t see what I see.
Underneath all that…is this:
(Don’t look at the stretch marks. I thought about editing them out but I left them in all their ugly glory. Thanks kids.)
And while THAT may be minor, I have come so far already, why wouldn’t I want to finish it?
You don’t quit at mile 20 of a marathon saying “I’ve already ran 20 miles, that’s a huge accomplishment.” No. You finish so you can say you COMPLETED the marathon. It may have taken you 8 hours despite your desire to finish it in 6, but you go the distance.
So I’m going to finish. Or at least DIG DEEP and work hard enough that I know in my heart I did the best I could to finish. I’m going to go the distance and see where I end up.
Beachbody’s INSANITY program is going to help. Combined with the Weight Watchers program I currently follow to help me watch what I eat, it’s going to be an interesting 2 months!
