This is our dog Simon.
He’s a purebred (though badly) Golden Retriever and he turned 9 in December.
He’s endured radical hip surgery for hip dysplasia, allergies, seizures and more medical abnormalities than I even care to remember. He’s aged a lot in the last year and the more gray he gets around his eyes and muzzle, the more we know his hard, although happy life will not last forever.
So we cherish him.
He’s a fantastic dog. Fiercely loyal. Protective yet sweet as can be when he needs to be. He follows me around like we are attached to each other, yet his undieing love is for my husband. He barks up a storm and cries like a little girl with excitement when he comes home from being gone, even for 5 minutes. He is always excited to see my husband. For me, he simply follows me around everywhere I go, but doesn’t even bark when I come in the door.
The only thing he likes more than my husband is a tennis ball. Although for some strange reason he believes they should be hairless and when he’s not fetching, he yanks all the fuzz off them.
He loves the snow. He frolicks like a puppy and chases snowballs.
