It’s no secret that we have made some major changes around here with regards to our diets. We have eliminated artificial colors and preservatives and we eat organic foods whenever possible.
But recently I also have begun to examine the things we use ON our bodies such as soap shampoo and even toothpaste. Just because we don’t eat it, doesn’t mean that the chemicals aren’t getting into our bodies just from the contact.
In the past my kids have used one of the numerous brands of toothpastes you can find on the shelf at your local store. You know, the kind geared towards kids with their favorite characters, sparkles and fun flavors. These same products also contain artificial sweeteners (such as sodium saccharin) and artificial colors (such as blue 1).
But there is a product out there that doesn’t contain any artificial sweeteners, preservatives, colors or flavors and it is Tom’s of Maine Silly Strawberry natural children’s toothpaste.
About Tom’s of Maine Silly Strawberry:
- Tom’s of Maine Silly Strawberry is the first and only natural kid’s toothpaste to receive the American Dental Association’s Seal of Acceptance for its proven effectiveness.
- With no artificial dyes or sweeteners, Tom’s of Maine Silly Strawberry toothpaste gets its naturally sweet flavor from real strawberries.
- Tom’s of Maine Silly Strawberry toothpaste is available at retailers nationwide with and without fluoride.
- Tom’s of Maine donates 10% of its profits from all sales back to the community to help people and the planet.
We were sent a sample of the Tom’s of Maine Silly Strawberry toothpaste to try and I can honestly say that we will never go back to our old toothpaste, Tom’s is a new family favorite.
At first, my daughter said it “tasted funny” but by the second day she told me that she “loved” her new toothpaste, especially the silly strawberries on the package. My son took to it just fine from the get-go.
My kids are very well versed in the benefits of not having artificial colors and ingredients in the products they use. Both are prone to rashes and allergies and we have seen a significant decrease in outbreaks since removing artificial ingredients from their diets and their personal care routines. When I explain to my daughter, who is only 4, that she will not get itchy from using a specific product, she is very excited to try it.
Having a great tasting toothpaste is important to encourage your kids to establish great oral hygiene habits, but having a toothpaste that tastes great and that doesn’t contain any artificial ingredients gives you the peace of mind that you are not only building healthy routines, but healthy bodies as well.
In order to help encourage a healthy outlook on brushing, Tom’s of Maine suggests following up their routine with a good book. On Wednesday March 14th, Tom’s is giving Facebook fans a chance to hear a brand new children’s book read live by Kristi Yamaguchi.
