Reebok inShape Fitness Monitor Watch
The Reebok inShape Fitness Monitor Watch is watch for people looking for a pedometer that does more than simply track steps.

The more you move, the more you tone and this watch can track your every step, kick, jump and skip right from your wrist. InShape features a Calorie Burn Monitor, Speed, Distance and Step Tracking and Accurately Tracks Total Time in Motion while a Speed Monitor keeps you on pace. Available in three colors ($79.99 MSRP).
First of all I liked the color and style of the watch. A bit bigger than I normally would want in a watch, but with all those features, I think it just needs to be a bit larger. It fit fairly comfortably, and it is durable and the material is perfect for a fitness watch. The screen is easy to read with large numbers and it was very easy to program.
Because of the nature of wearing a watch on your wrist, I couldn’t use this as a device to track my daily steps because every time I moved my arm, it counted a step, even if my legs didn’t move. When used during a run, however, it worked great and was accurate (the results were close to a second device I used as a control item to compare the # of steps recorded – they were around 10 steps different, which is very close). It’s nice to be able to see my total distance – the watch converts the steps to miles, and the average pace feature tells me how many MPH I was going on average. I also LOVE that it tells me how many calories I burned and my total time working out. These are all features that helps me stay on track!
Another feature that I really like about this watch is the band. The little plastic piece that slides over the end of the band actually locks in place on it, so no slipping and sliding around of that piece and causing pinching on your arm when you workout. I thought it was a very clever design.
In general I have no complaints about the watch Reebok inShape Fitness Watch sans one, the steps reset at 10,000. Some of my long runs go well over 10,000 steps. It’s fairly easy to mentally add them back in though, if it reads 400 steps and I ran for 2 hours, it’s a sure bet I need to add 10,000 to it for an accurate reading.
Overall it is a solid watch with some very useful features to help you achieve your fitness goals.
Reebok Heart Rate Monitor Watch without a Chest Strap
The Reebok Heart Rate Monitor Watch is the next step up from the Reebok inShape watch. It has all the same great features of the inShape but with the added benefit of also providing you with your heart rate – without have to wear a pesky chest strap.
About the watch:
Fitness tracking is important but knowing you’re increasing your fat burn simply because you’re in the right zone is vitally important in achieving your fitness goals. And obtaining your heart rate simply by touching the face of the watch means no chest belt is needed. This heart rate monitor features: Touch to View Heart Rate, a Fit Zone Indicator, a Calorie Burn Monitor and Speed, Distance and Step Tracking. Available in three colors ($99.99 MSRP).
I actually gave this watch to my mom to review because she was very interested in having a heart rate monitor without the chest strap. It seemed like a fun idea to see if we both made any similar observations between the two watches as well.
Below is what she had to say about the watch:
- It is easy to program just follow directions in the manual
- Comparing to regular pedometer while walking on treadmill functions seem to work similar only being a little off from each other example steps on watch 2768 and steps on pedometer 2732.You can only track your steps when you are running or walking continually unlike the pedometer where you can keep track of any steps you take for the day while exercising or just walking from the family room to the kitchen and back, or down stairs to do laundry and back up. Distance traveled traveled and calories burned were similar to the treadmill readout.
- Heart rate monitor seemed to work good although it seemed to take a minute or two to get comfortable getting a readout at first but after realizing how it works it gave a good HR readout.
- As far as testing it against the HR on my treadmill I think the signal from my chest strap to the treadmill interfered with the HR reading on the watch. Its was hard to get a reading and when I did it was from 10 to 40 heat beats off. Only one of the readings was exactly the same as the treadmill which means you have to use one or the other but you cannot successfully use both at the same time on the treadmill.
- As far as fit goes the Reebok InTouch HRM watch fits my small wrist very well as you can see in the pictures. The end of the strap fits into a hole to hold it very securely so it does not flop around.
If you are looking for a tool to keep track of your information while you are walking and running for exercise and need a HR the Reebok InTouch HRM is a great tool. If you are looking for something to just keep track of all your steps for the day then look into a regular pedometer that you wear at your waist.
Overall I think so long as you understand that these watches are designed to track your fitness during a specific activity and not constantly throughout the day, these are durable, attractive and accurate tools to help you take your fitness to the next level.
