My daughter dreams of one day becoming a princess, and while I believe that no matter what she does, what she wears, or how she wears her hair, that she will always be a princess, she has some ideas of her own about what it takes to be a princess, many of which are born out of her love of Disney.
So I asked her.
“Abby, what are 5 things you can do to become a princess?”
And as we set out on our shopping trip to pick up the Sleeping Beauty DVD she had been wanting, she answered those questions and selected some Disney Princess items that helped her tell her story.
But first we needed to get our hands on the much anticipated movie!
We found the movie at Walmart near the front of the store at a big display, sadly they were out of the gift set we were after, but we did get the Diamond Edition Blu-ray.
She really is super happy, but it’s like she doesn’t know how to smile anymore because of that missing tooth!
Once we had the movie, the hunt began for all of the items she said she needed for her ‘Princess Makeover’.
The Art of Being a Princess – A Princess Makeover
“A princess lays down in the grass sideways in a pretty dress.”
She picked out an Ariel dress that she said was perfect for laying down in the grass. I’m not sure exactly why she thinks princesses do this, but it was adorable and who am I to question?
“A princess holds her dress up with one hand.”
Of course they do. Everyone knows this. They also apparently tilt their head a lot.
“A princess has lots of hair styles.”
And her own salon and colored hair extensions.
“A princess likes to listen to music.”
With her very own Disney Princess headphones.
“A princess has horses.”
Let’s make that “miniature” horses. Miniature horses that look like dogs.
I love that in her mind, these 5 simple things make her a princess. In my mind, she already is, but I prefer to let her imagination take her wherever she wants to go.
Do you have a princess in your life? What do you think she would say makes her a princess?
