The other day, I came across The Flavor Bender’s Galaxy Lemonade Slushie and my mind was blown. Those drinks are so cool! I immediately ordered some dried butterfly pea flower on Amazon, and began obsessing over how to use it in a fall cocktail. I found a delicious recipe for Apple Pie on the Rocks at Whiskey Gypsy, and put a fun Halloween twist on it by using color changing vanilla vodka. I call it Poisoned Apple Pie Cocktail. Apple cider, Fireball, and vanilla vodka – it’s like drinking a slice of apple pie. Yum.
Poisoned Apple Pie Cocktail Recipe
To make the Color Changing Vanilla Vodka, pour one cup of vanilla flavored vodka into a lidded container. Drop 4-5 butterfly pea flowers into the vodka, and let soak for 24 hours. Remove the flowers and store the vodka in a cool place. Doesn’t it make a pretty purple?
Poisoned Apple Pie Cocktail is super easy to make. Mix the apple cider and Fireball together. Then, layer the purple vodka on top, by using an inverted spoon and slowly pouring the vodka on top of the cider mix. This video, How to Pour a Layered Cocktail, shows how easy this is to do. Garnish with a dried apple ring, and enjoy!
Pair it with my Spooky Spicy Crackers and some lightly salted nuts. Queue up a scary Halloween movie, and you’re all set!
