When it comes to back-to-school, school uniforms present many of the same challenges as non-uniform shopping. Actually, as a parent, it can be even more challenging because you really have to balance what your kids want with what they are actually allowed to wear. Especially when there are so many fun and cool new apparel items for back-to-school at Target.
Thankfully dress down days offer an opportunity for kids to express their personality despite having to follow a dress code. Many school dress codes allow for jeans with a regulation school polo and Target has all of the modern styles and colors. My daughter is a fan of dark, skinny jeans so she picked out a pair and then selected some items to complement her outfit and make it her own.
My son likes a regular leg jean and is slim so the slim fit is perfect for him. He also prefers the “worn” look. Target had a huge selection and even had his favorite brand – Levi’s!
The average “dress down day” looks a little something like this:
A couple of added accessories from Target, and now he really looks like himself.
But look what happens when she adds a few accessories from Target. Her personality shines through!
And with the same pair of jeans and a red polo shirt:
She has always wanted a jean jacket and pretty much refused to take the Anna hat with the braids off except when she sleeps.
Target lets my kids show off their unique personalities despite a uniform dress code, and the great prices make me super happy. It’s a win-win! Check out these and other great styles here: boys’ clothing and girls’ clothing.
