My son, my 6 year old, first born, only son, is going with his kindergarten class to downtown Chicago to go to the zoo.
I haven’t been comfortable with the idea since I first found out, the only comfort I do have is that I know and trust 3 of the moms who are chaperoning (there are other parents too)….but still.
I’ve gone over in my head all the possible scenarios (added a few grey hairs in the process) and tried to brief him on everything he is to do and not do without putting so much fear in him he doesn’t want to go. Although that evil thought did cross my mind…to scare him into wanting to stay home. I also considered bribery. Chuck E Cheese anyone? Yes, scary in its own right but at least he’d be under my care and supervision.
Seriously, how do parents survive their kids’ childhood without going insane? Or at least bald…
I need to know who invented field trips. Because I’m gonna hunt them down and kick their butt!
Is it 2:30 yet?
