Master Your Summer To-Do List with this Free Printable Checklist – sponsored by Folgers Perfect Measures
Have you ever tried to clean spilled coffee grounds off of the floor?
It’s seriously like trying to push a rope.
So you have to drag out the vacuum to suck them up, but even then, you just can’t get them all. It’s like going to the beach and finding sand in body crevices, that you didn’t even know you had, two weeks later.
And have you ever not spilled coffee grounds when making the coffee? Me either.
But it’s coffee. The most important meal of the day and much like breathing, it’s an absolute necessity.
So you spill the coffee and manage to get it cleaned up finally. But it’s summer so you get lazy and you forget what else you had on your agenda for this morning. Plus, you slept in so you are now two hours behind schedule for the day.
The kids aren’t up so why not just plop down on the couch and watch the morning news? Before you know it, it’s lunchtime and all you managed to do is make the coffee. An important task, surely, but just the start of a very long list of daily chores.
But it’s summer so who cares, right?
I start my summer with the best of intentions. Things I want to do. Things I want to get done. But I don’t. All because I spilled the coffee grounds.
Ok, so the coffee isn’t really to blame, but it certainly sets off a chain reaction that helps ensure you get nothing done.
So what do you do?
How to Master Your Summer To-Do List
Mastering your summer to-do list can be a challenge, but it’s not impossible. If you can take control of your morning routine, you will see a huge difference in how much you accomplish. The mornings set the tone for the rest of the day, and a successful morning can really help you make the most of your time, get your to-do list done, and find time to enjoy the best time of year.
Having a routine can really help your productivity. A step-by-step plan becomes a habit and no matter how much coffee you spill, the habit will help you overcome the urge to let it define the rest of your day. Establish a set routine, and do your morning chores in the same order each morning.
I know it’s hard to assign chores to kids before they head off to school but during the summer months, there is no reason they can’t help tackle the morning chores. Let them sleep in, but make sure they know that after breakfast and before play time, they have a few things to do to contribute around the house.
Don’t be an Overachiever
Be realistic about what you can actually accomplish within the time allotted, keeping in mind that we all tend to be a bit lax during the summer. Good intentions can often make it harder to accomplish your list. If you are continually failing to complete your to-do list, you will most likely give up altogether.
Simplify what You Can
Much like dinner meal planning, plan your breakfasts. Make them ahead of time in the freezer so you just need to pull them out and heat them up. Or serve fruit for breakfast or something that doesn’t require meal prep. Another idea is fruit smoothies. Pour everything in a blender and serve. Easy!

They also think that coffee improves their productivity.
