We don’t often make it to the movie theater. It’s part cost, part distance, and part preferring the comfort of our own home. Which means we often take to renting movies, but not from a traditional video store. That would require us to leave the house. Amazon Video allows us to rent new releases without ever leaving the house!
My kids had been begging to see The Lego Movie so we decided to rent it one afternoon. But as we did, I decided that instead of sitting on the couch eating snacks and watching the movie, that I would create something for them to do while they watch to encourage physical activity but let them think it was fun.
My daughter really got into it, although I learned she has her own unique way to do jumping jacks.
Below is the activity I created for kids to enjoy along with The Lego Movie. It’s printable, just click the image and a PDF will open.
How do you keep your kids active while they enjoy their favorite movies?

August 20, 2014 at 4:49 amWhat a fun way to watch movies! We don’t make it to the movies that often for a number of reasons as well and this sounds like a great solution.

August 19, 2014 at 9:18 pmHow creative.. I LOVE it! We tend to limit electronics and TV time, so the kiddo’s can use their imagination and energy.. but this is a way to sneak in healthy habits when they don’t even realize it.. awesome idea – I’ll be using it 🙂

August 19, 2014 at 9:16 pmOkay, now I have no choice but to let me youngest see this movie. I have been putting it off, because it really is one I have no interest in seeing, but now he can enjoy it, and I don’t have to be subjected lol.

August 19, 2014 at 7:49 pmI literally have movie tickets that I can’t use because of getting a babysitter and how far we have to drive to go to a theater.
I love this idea for getting kids active while watching the Lego Movie.

August 19, 2014 at 7:41 pmWe see movies in the theater quite often but usually just ones that are kid-friendly that we can take our tweens to with us. I’ve never watched movies “on demand” other than through Netflix. If I won, I would rent Divergent because I’ve wanted to see it and haven’t!

August 19, 2014 at 5:11 pmHow fun is that! The kids could watch the same movie over and over, but I worry about them turning into couch potatoes. I love that the can still watch their favorites, but get a little movement while doing it.
