There is nothing like grilling a sandwich to take it to the next level. Anyone can make a cold sandwich, but when you grill it, it becomes so much more than just a sandwich, it becomes a creation!
I have always wanted a Panini maker.
Well, for at least as long as I have known what one was.
Any luckily, thanks to Krups, I recently had the chance to get one and give it a try!
Pressed for time? This Krups panini maker distributes heat quickly and evenly, transforming soon-to-be grilled cheese, Rubens and other sandwiches into easy and irresistibly delicious meals. Nonstick cooking plates make cleanup as easy as cooking. One-year limited warrranty. Model FDE312-75.

I am not the world’s best cook.
I try, but I often fail.
So I was excited to have this new tool at my disposal to help make it easier for me to be creative in the kitchen.
It really is a fairly simple machine. You plug it in and it heats up. You lift the lid, place your food on it, press the lid down (it adjusts based upon the height of the food you put in it) and grill up a tasty sandwich. Super easy to use, easy to clean, and it seems like a sturdy durable machine. I love the fact that it has a lock on it for easy carrying or so you can store it sideways if you want, but the lock really didn’t seem to stay latched for me.
The first thing I tackled with my new panini maker was a traditional grilled cheese sandwich. Who doesn’t love grilled cheese?
It came out better then I expected! Next time though, I will turn the bread sideways so the grill marks are on an angle. I have to say it really did taste better with the grill marks on it.
Then I was making chicken one day and decided to try and grill in on the Krups Grill & Panini maker.
The kids really liked it. I think I left it on a little long, because was a bit dry, but it had a nice flavor. It was super easy to do and the cleanup was pretty easy. I love that I didn’t have to keep flipping the chicken like you do if you cook it in a pan.
Overall I really like the Krups Universal Grill & Panini Maker. It simply does one thing and does it well. I wish the lock worked better because I have had some trouble moving it (it’s a bit heavy) and storing it, but we have adapted to just not using it.
The book it came with has some nice ideas including a CHOCOLATE panini recipe (yes, chocolate) but I haven’t been brave enough to try any of the recipes yet. Actually I thought it would be fun to try and cook every meal on the Krups Panini maker and record the results on my blog. I think maybe spaghetti might be kinda tough.
In any case, I’ve got some turkey burgers I plan on grilling up next with it!
You can purchased the Krups Universal Grill & Panini Maker at Macy’s or Amazon.com.
