🍕 Low Carb Pizza Sauce Recipe

Everyone loves pizza; that's why it's a staple for many households. I'm pretty sure if most of us had a choice, we'd eat it every other day. And with healthier pizza options out there, it's pretty tempting.

So if you're one of the many people out there who adore pizza, you know the sauce is a crucial part of any pizza. My Keto pizza sauce is on another level, just like my Keto pizza crust. And when I finally combine everything together, my family is beyond excited.

And what excites me is just how easy this sauce is. There is no pre-cooking, just mixing a few key ingredients together in a bowl, and presto, a fantastic low-carb pizza sauce.

This no-cook, sugar-free pizza sauce is also quite versatile. You can use it as a dipping sauce, topping, or toss it with veggies. I particularly enjoy this sauce with air fryer cauliflower bites and steamed veggies.

Skip store-bought jars and whip up your own keto pizza sauce. Trust me; you will not be disappointed.

    🍽 What you need

With 10 common pantry staples, you can have this rich and saucy keto pizza sauce ready in just 10 minutes. Plus, it requires just 3 basic kitchen tools and takes literally no effort at all!

    Equipment

    • Whisk or glass jar
    • Large mixing bowl
    • Cheese Grater (optional)

    Ingredients

    • 8 ounces Keto tomato sauce
    • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
    • ⅛ teaspoon sea salt
    • ⅛ teaspoon onion powder
    • ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
    • ⅛ teaspoon dried basil
    • ⅛ teaspoon oregano
    • ⅛ teaspoon parsley
    • ⅛ teaspoon red pepper flakes
    • 3 tablespoons Parmesan cheese - shredded

If you're out of garlic powder, minced garlic is a great substitute. Use the same amount as stated.

Sauce recipes like this demand quality spices. Check out these amazing spices from Spiceology. Affordable spices backed by fantastic quality!

🔪 How to make Keto pizza sauce

    Learn how to make this fantastic Keto pizza sauce with my step-step instructions and top tips for success. This, hands down is the easiest (and tastiest) low-carb sauce you'll ever make or taste. Here's how to make pizza sauce from scratch;

    • In a mixing bowl, add all the spices and tomato sauce. Mix until the ingredients are combined, then stir in the shredded cheese.
    • Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning accordingly if necessary.

That's it! Your keto pizza sauce is ready. Just spread onto the pizza crust and continue with the recipe.

    💭 Top tips for success

    Here's s a few tip and tricks to making the best keto pizza sauce;

    • If you prefer a thinner sauce, add a little water to the mix. For a thicker sauce, you can either use tomato paste instead of tomato sauce or both. Adding a tablespoon or two of Keto-friendly almond flour is the other option. Combine equal parts of water and flour, then add to sauce.
    • Tomato paste typically has 2 net carbs per serving, so you should use it in moderation. If you're on a strict keto diet, I suggest you thin it with water.
    • Your sugar-free pizza sauce shouldn't be too thin; otherwise, it will make your pizza crust soggy.
    • Parmesan is the star ingredient. It adds a delectable flavor to this Keto pizza sauce, so don't skip it. Out of parmesan? Asiago, Grana Padano, dry Jack, and romano cheese are great alternatives you can use.
    • If you like your sauces hot and spicy, add more red pepper flakes.
    • Make a big batch of this flavor-packed keto pizza sauce and have it on hand whenever you want to make keto pizza crust, fathead dough, or top your favorite veggies and meats.
    • Parmesan is among the saltiest cheeses, so you should refrain from adding more salt to the sauce. But if you happen to overdo the salt, you can downplay the saltiness by adding some sugar-free balsamic vinegar.
    • If you want to infuse more flavor into your keto pizza sauce, try adding a small splash of olive oil or more spices and blends like Italian seasoning.

🤔 Pasta Sauce vs. Pizza Sauce

A lot of people often get confused about these two sauces. While sometimes they can be used interchangeably, they're pretty different.

Pizza sauce is basically raw, uncooked - it has that fresh tomato taste. On the other hand, pasta sauce is essentially cooked in a saucepan over low heat to develop a deep flavor. With that said, both are easy to make from scratch.

    🧊 Storing and ♨️ Reheating

Leftover sauce can be stored in the fridge or freezer. It can last up to two weeks in the fridge and be frozen in an airtight container or jar for six months. When you're ready to use it, just defrost it in the fridge overnight.

I store my sauce in ziplock sandwich bags, Fill a sandwich bag about half full, seal completely, lay flat on a tray, and freeze. Once frozen, the bags are easy to stack and store. You got me! I make a lot of PIZZA.

    👪 Serving size

This Keto pizza sauce recipe is a true game-changer. Besides packing a ton of flavor, it comes together in just a few minutes. What's more, it's gluten-free and has no extra sugar, precisely what you need in a low-carb diet! This sauce recipe is for 4 pizzas. For a larger crowd, you can easily double or triple the batch.

Feel free to browse through my quick and easy recipes for more exciting recipe ideas. You're bound to find something you love!

Combine this Keto Pizza Sauce with my Keto pizza crust and create the ultimate Keto Pizza for your friends and family.

Oh boy, no LOL. I had to install a new recipe plugin and it didn't import everything exactly right. I don't cook the sauce until it's on the pizza. I fixed the recipe, thanks so much for asking about it.

Carb count would be based on how many carbs in your choice of tomatoe sauce and Parmesan cheese, I would imagine.

I looked for nutrition information and could not find a carb count. Why are nutrition values not posted?

Tomatoes have carbs. Low carb doesn't mean zero carbs. But it does mean avoiding added sugar. Many people follow a low carb diet and still eat 100 carbs a day. It's all relative. But if you want to make pizza with tomato sauce at least you know EXACTLY what's in this one.

I agree!! Low carb doesn't mean zero carbs! Good luck finding a tomato sauce that fits into the 'zero carb' category. It probably tastes horrible. Kim, this pizza sauce is awesome!!! Thank you so much!! You are a life saver!!

This Pizza sauce is the bomb! I'm not to fond of the crust substitutes out there so we go crustless! It allows this to be super quick and easy! I make extra sauce and freeze it into serving sizes. I thought I might have to add a little sugar substitute to get it close to what we were used to (before keto) but no, it's perfect the way it is. Thank you!

What do you mean by tomato sauce in a can? Ketchup? The concentrated tomato paste? That usually contains sugars, or do you mean chopped/crushed tomatoes?

Plain tomato sauce, just make sure it doesn't have added sugars. Tomatoes do have some sugar naturally so there will be sugar content on the label, just make sure sugar isn't an ingredient.
