    Three deviled eggs

This Keto deviled egg recipe is super easy to prepare, and they are the best finger food for a great appetizer, parties, BBQs, and events. This recipe is delicious on its own and perfect for adding your favorite toppings.

    Three deviled eggs

For deviled egg ideas, try my Keto taco seasoning instead of the classic paprika for a fresh take on this classic recipe. I love serving these with my smoked tri-tip recipe and find a combination of classic and taco variations a big hit.

    ⭐ Are deviled eggs Keto?

Yes, they are low carb and Keto-friendly and make the perfect appetizer, party snack and are popular at events and barbeques. If you follow a classic deviled egg recipe, zero carbs is possible. However, as a practical guideline, account for at least 0.3 - 0.5 carbs per half.

This recipe is super easy, delicious, and my favorite low-carb deviled eggs recipe. It doesn't come with fancy toppings or added spices like other recipes, just beautiful hard-boiled eggs split in half, then filled with egg yolk mixture and a sprinkle of paprika for decoration and color. Yummy!

If you want to know which toppings to use with keto-deviled eggs or how to make the perfect low-carb deviled eggs, I will share my tips and knowledge throughout this article.

    🍽 What You Need

Apart from 3 ingredients, you will need a bit of patience with this deviled egg recipe as it requires boiling, cooling, mixing, and piping. Set aside 30 to 45 minutes, pour yourself a glass of something, breath, and start the pan of boiling water!

    Ingredients

    • 6 large eggs
    • ⅓ cup mayo with avocado oil
    • (optional) paprika

    Equipment

    • Saucepan
    • A small mixing bowl
    • A serving plate or tray
    • A fork for mashing the yolk filling
    • A zip lock bag or piping bag

    Optional

Create an appetizer platter and combine this recipe with my ham roll-ups and cream cheese Pinwheels. All of these recipes are quick, easy, and taste fantastic.

    🔪 How to Make

Learn how to make perfect Keto-deviled eggs in this easy-to-follow recipe. Plan for about 30 minutes and enjoy 12 of these delicious deviled eggs at your next family gathering.

Deviled eggs steps how to make
How to make deviled eggs step by step
    1. Bring a pan with water to a boil status and boil the eggs for 10 minutes, then remove the pan from the heat for 10 minutes and cover it. Drain the water from the pan and rinse the hard-boiled eggs under cold water until they are completely cold.
    2. To carefully peel them, gently tap the shell and roll them around on a hard surface.
    3. Once they are peeled, rinse them again under cold water, and cut them in half.
    4. Put the egg white halves on a plate or tray and add the yolk halves to a small bowl.
    5. Mash the yolks with a fork until it resembles small crumbs.
    6. Add the mayo with avocado oil and mix until smooth.
    7. Transfer the mixture to a piping or zip lock bag. Fold the sides over the rim of a cup and pour the mixture inside.
    8. Cut off a corner of the bag and pipe yolk mixture into each egg white half.
    9. Sprinkle a bit of paprika onto each keto-deviled egg.
    10. Chill, and serve.

    💭 Top Tips

As a general rule, older eggs are always easier to peel. A typical carton of eggs here is safe if consumed within a month (45 days per the date stamp on my egg carton I bought today).

    • After the eggs are cooked, transfer them straight from the boiling water to an ice bath. Iced water helps the hard-boiled eggs cool down instantly.
    • To help the eggshell peel easier, add 1 teaspoon sea salt and 20ml distilled vinegar/lemon juice to the boiling water before carefully submerging the eggs.
    • If you want to pipe the egg yolk mixture into the egg white shells like a flower for decoration, place a pastry nozzle into the piping bag before the mixture. Pastry nozzles are fun to use for decoration and will look much better in the egg white halves.

    📋 Variations

While this is the perfect Keto-deviled egg recipe, it is possible to substitute some of the ingredients to your liking. Try some of these variations below:

    • Give the avocado oil mayo a bit of a kick with a teaspoon of dijon mustard and a dash of garlic powder.
    • If you don't want to use mayo, you can substitute it for mashed avocado, avocado mousse, or Greek yogurt.
    • Mash the egg yolks with sour cream and finely chopped fresh chives, then pipe the mixture into the egg whites.

    🧂 Toppings

Deviled eggs are perfect for combining some tasty toppings like salmon, crispy bacon bits, and avocado, to name a few. Try some of these combinations below to keep the keto-deviled eggs low carb and to give them a little twist in flavor.

    • Smoked salmon and smoked paprika - All you need to do is cut little strips of salmon to put on top of the keto deviled eggs, then finely chop some fresh chives, sprinkle them over the salmon and lastly give it a dusting of smoked paprika.
    • Bacon and avocado topping - This is one of my FAVS! Cut a ripe avocado into small strips, place them on top of the deviled eggs, and top with crumbled bacon. Simple, but tasty!
    • Prosciutto and bell pepper - For the perfect deviled eggs, slice up small strips of prosciutto and red bell pepper to add on top of the keto deviled eggs.

    🥗 What to serve with

Deviled eggs are traditional in most households to serve as an appetizer at a banquet or feast. Still, they are perfect for adding to main dishes like sandwiches, salads, steamed vegetables, rice or noodles, and even go great with my Keto cream of mushroom soup. Try some of these dishes to serve with your deviled eggs next time.

    • Deviled eggs with bacon and dijon mustard sandwich. (you can skip the mustard if you don't like it, but I think it goes well with bacon and eggs).
    • Make deviled eggs to serve with keto meatloaf. Meatloaf is another easy recipe to make alongside keto-deviled eggs and perfect for a family dinner.
    • Low carb recipes are perfect for serving with deviled eggs and non more so than keto chicken cordon bleu.

I make keto-deviled eggs and eat them with homemade cream of mushroom soup or a summer salad, but you can serve them with other delicious recipes for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

    ⏲️ Make ahead

Keto-deviled eggs are perfect for making in advance. The method is easy and saves lots of time in the kitchen.

Make the boiled eggs as normal and split the eggs in half, transferring the egg white halves to an airtight container with cold water. The halves can stay in the container for up to 2 days before filling them with the yolk mixture.

When preparing the yolk filling in advance, simply keep the mixture in a piping bag or zip lock bag and store it in the fridge for 2 days.

    🥫 Storage

For ready-made keto-deviled eggs, it is possible to store them in the fridge in an airtight container with a lemon wedge inside to keep them from browning.

If you make these in advance or pre-prep as my mom does, store the egg whites and the yolks separately in the fridge.

Avoid freezing deviled eggs; it never turns out well.

    👪 Serving size

This recipe makes 12 servings of Keto Deviled Eggs. If you are on the hunt for a perfect appetizer that is easy to prepare, cheap to make, part of a low carb diet, low in calories, and delicious, this keto-deviled eggs recipe is it!

The beauty of deviled eggs is that you can decorate them with different piping nozzles and add extra toppings like bacon or salmon. You can also make the filling with yolks mixed with avocado, sour cream, or even Greek yogurt.
