I took the Insanity challenge and completed it!
Yesterday was the last workout in my Insanity journey and today was the final fit test. I achieved so much in 60 (well actually 63) short days.
And I experienced INSANE results, some of which even a picture or measurements can’t fully indicate:
- I committed to something intense and difficult and stuck with it.
- I lost inches.
- I gained endurance.
- I increased my strength.
- I developed more confidence.
- I earned the coveted Insanity t-shirt!

When committing to a program like Insanity you have to put the scale away, or at least accept that if you are normally in weight LOSS mode, this kind of intense, muscle building workout may leave you confused and frustrated when you actually GAIN weight. Depending upon how much extra weight your body is carrying (if any) you may find that you lose inches yet gain weight. I did. About 3 lbs.
And not that I had any cellulite on the backs of my thighs. Nope. Not me. But I’ve noticed it toning up and there are quite a few less dimples back there than there used to be.
As a busy mom, I had to make an extreme commitment to this insane program. For over 60 days I got up between 5 am – 5:30 am in order to workout. This is a not a workout that was easy for me to “fit” into my day. I had to block out time before my day began.
And it was hard.
But the Insanity program has a fully laid out schedule and is only for 60 days. There was a beginning, an end, and all I had to do was look at the calendar that came with it to see what I was supposed to do each day. The only thing required from me was commitment – well and to dig deeper than I ever thought possible.
I am extremely happy with the results I achieved. Would I have liked to lose my last 15 lbs and have a ripped body? Yes, of course. But it’s only been 60 days. The results I’ve seen on Insanity have been enough to convince me that I have what it takes to get to my goal. That is a huge victory because before Insanity I was convinced myself that I would never get beyond my “before” picture. That 2 kids destroyed my body beyond repair. Now, I know that I can not only get to my goal, I have the strength to achieve anything I set my mind to.
Is Insanity for everyone?
But, I think it could be modified for most people.
The hardest part is taking the time out of your day and committing to changing your life, one positive decision at a time.
