Pretty soon the ghosts and goblins and princesses and super heroes will be wandering the streets, knocking on doors looking for candy. Halloween is in the air and with it comes spooky decorations, Halloween parties, haunted houses, hay rides, pumpkin patch visits, corn mazes and all sorts of things that go bump in the night.
But for some kids, it’s all just a little bit too spooky.
So I thought I’d put together something fun for those kids who just aren’t ready for the spooky stuff. This way they can have some fun and you don’t get awaken at night because they are having nightmares.
Halloween Scavenger Hunt Printable
My Halloween Scavenger Hunt Printable is perfect for costume parties, school parties or trick-or-treating! Kids simply identify as many of the costume types as possible from the list. Click the image for a printable PDF.
Have them take it with them trick-or-treating or to a Halloween party to make it extra fun!
In addition to scavenger hunt fun, I checked out Netflix to find kid-friendly Halloween movies and shows that my kids might enjoy. My son doesn’t mind the spooky stuff but my daughter likes to keep it a bit less nightmare-invoking.
Netflix has a ton of Halloween movies and shows for kids and adults, below are 12 kid-friendly ones, but a couple may be a bit on the spooky side so you may want to tread lightly. My daughter is fine with The Nightmare Before Christmas now, but 2 years ago it scared her.

October 27, 2014 at 11:54 amWhat a fun scavenger hunt. My kids and I love watching Netflix and they’ve already been discovering all the fun Halloween shows but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been watching spooky stuff. I have 5 kids (4 between the ages of 7 to 17) the mixture between spooky and fun when it comes to movies. They have been watching Goosebumps, R.L. Stine and Casper.

October 27, 2014 at 1:34 amOh what a fun idea! I need to print this out for my son. Thank you for the movie suggestions, too! I’ve been trying to find some that aren’t too scary since he’s really young and easily scared.

October 23, 2014 at 5:18 pmI like the cuter, less scary stuff. I’m fine with witches and whatnot, but the bloody stuff or devilish stuff I don’t like.

October 22, 2014 at 11:30 pmMy oldest looooves spooky movies but not everyone is there yet. It’s nice to have festive options that won’t keep the kids up all night.
