Technology is amazing.
It can make our lives so much easier.
But technology can also cause issues in our lives as well. It can complicate things and leave use looking for a simpler solution.
But, ironically, other technologies can help bridge the gap in situations where your gadgets may actually be doing the opposite of making your life easier.
Enter the Panasonic KX-PRL262B Link2Cell Digital Phone and the Panasonic Open Ear Headphones. Both of these products are perfect for the busy mom who may have found that she needs a bit of improvement in how she uses technology in her life.
Link2Cell Digital Phone with iPhone5 Integration and Answering Machine KX-PRL262B 2 Cordless Handsets
Having two telephones, a cell phone and a home phone, can be inconvenient when someone calls your cell and you left it in the laundry room. You can HEAR it ringing but have no idea where you put it. So you run through the house trying to find it, and sure you are getting some great exercise, but it’s frustrating to finally grab your phone right as it rings for the last time.
All that effort to try and answer it and you missed it anyway.
The Panasonic KX-PRL262B Link2Cell Digital Phone is designed to prevent an impromptu scavenger themed marathon hunt through your house.
- Sync smartphone to home phone via Bluetooth®, no landline required
- Link up to two smartphones to make and receive cell calls with Link2Cell handsets
- Stream music from your smartphone with built-in speakers
- Keep your iPhone5® charged via lightening connector
- Never miss a text with talking ID alerts from Link2Cell handsets
- MSRP: $199.99
I love the concept of being able to dock my iPhone and have 2 handsets located in different areas of the house to receive my cell calls on. Not only does it prevent the scenario I mentioned above, but it also allows my phone to charge while docked which is a fantastic feature. I no longer have to be tethered to the wall while my phone is charging, I have the freedom of a cordless handset.
Setup was super easy, simply install the provided rechargeable batteries, charge the handsets in the cradles and then pair your iPhone to the base. And away you go! Calls made to you on your cell phone will ring on the two handsets just like they called your home phone line.
The phone menu is easy to navigate and figure out all of the settings. The iPhone sits securely on the base and I love the shape and narrow profile of the handsets. They feel great in my hand.
I also like the speaker function where I can play the music on my iPhone through the base unit while using the handset as a remote. Very cool feature!
The only drawback I see to this unit is that if you have a case on your phone you have to remove it. I couldn’t get it to dock with my case on it and it’s a fairly narrow profile case.
Overall though, this phone has really changed the way I spent my time at home. I no longer worry about having my cell phone with me no matter where I am. I have one handset upstairs and one downstairs and my phone stays charged for when I do need to leave the house. And no more scavenger hunt marathons have happened either – well, except for the one time my husband answered the phone. He has a tendency to misplace things…
Panasonic Open-Ear Bone Conduction Headphones with Reflective Design – RP-HGS10-P
As a mom, it’s important for me to be able to hear what is going on around me, even when I want to enjoy my music privately. Everyone knows that when you can’t hear them, your children are likely up to no good.
Panasonic has solved this problem with their Open-Ear Bone Conduction Headphones! Now you can listen privately to your music but still hear what is going on around you.
- Open-ear headphones allow you to hear your surroundings while listening to music
- Bone conduction technology sends music from cheek bones to inner ear
- Use rain or shine – these open-ear headphones are water resistant against rain and sweat
- Bright, reflective headphone design provides added visibility at night
- MSRP: $79.99
I have to admit I couldn’t wrap my mind around the idea of these, I actually had to try them to really “get” it. They are cool. You absolutely can hear what is going on around you and still clearly hear your music. You have to set the little pads in the exact right spot to hear the music at a normal level, but once you find that sweet spot the first time, it’s easy to find it next time.
They were fairly comfortable, actually more-so for me than the ones that go in your ears. Those always hurt my right ear. They didn’t move around during a light jog but I haven’t tested them on longer runs. They do seem like they will stay in place no matter what the activity.
I love the idea that I can listen to my own music around the house and still hear what is going on, but also the safety aspect of wearing them on outdoor runs and being able to hear traffic or people nearby is a huge plus.
Both the Panasonic KX-PRL262B Link2Cell Digital Phone and the Panasonic Open Ear Headphones change the way you stay connected and take the frustration out of using your devices. The headphones take your music to a whole new level by allowing you to still be aware of what is going on around you. The phone allows you complete freedom at home when receiving calls to your cell phone and keeps it fully charged in case you do need to leave the house.
