If your kids are anything like mine, the second you mention “road trip” they start charging their electronic devices to prepare for the trip. And if you are anything like me you decide that since you survived car rides without video games, they can too.
But you have to give them something to do, otherwise you will WISH they had their noses buried in a handheld.
This game feeds their imaginations and their tummies!
Step 1: Print out a game sheet for each child in the car.
Step 2: Pack a small snack bag for each child filled with 36 snacks each. We love Horizon Snacks in our bags. They have a great variety and my kids love them. They are also the perfect size for snacking on-the-go. Horizon snacks are made with organic ingredients and are tasty and fun. My daughter loves the “happy cow snacks” as she calls them.
Step 3: (Optional) attach a label to each bag with tape.
Step 4: Start driving and hunting for objects.
Step 5: As they spot an object, they should mark it off on their game sheet and can then take and eat 1 snack from the bag for each item they mark off.
We find this game ends up being something we all get into. I will spot something on the list and say something like “oooh I spy something on your list” and they get all excited looking for it trying to be the first one to spot it.
Do you take a lot of road trips during the summer?
