Many years ago my husband bought a knife set. He did all the cooking, I preferred to stick with the cheap dollar store knives I bought when I had first gotten my own apartment. I knew they could barely cut bread, therefore I wouldn’t cut off a finger. I was never comfortable around knives and since I didn’t do much more than warm up a frozen meal, it didn’t really matter.
When I started actually cooking last year, I have come to appreciate the fact that there are different knives for different jobs, that there are right and wrong applications for certain knives, and that you can cut just about anything without losing a finger.
When the opportunity arose to test out some new knives as a Chicago Cutlery Mom Ambassador and have the opportunity to improve my kitchen skills, I jumped at it.
