This post, How I Get My Kids to Drink More Water – The Benefits of Mineral Water, is sponsored by Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water, opinions and ideas are my own.
“Have some water.”
“I don’t want water, can I have soda?”
This used to be a typical conversation in my house with my kids. They want anything except water to drink.
But water is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, while many of the other drinks they want are pretty much the opposite. Thankfully, I have figured out an easy trick to getting my kids to drink more water. But not just any water, mineral water. Because mineral water has benefits regular water just can’t provide.
Now, I’d like to take credit for my creativity and extreme wisdom in figuring out this trick, but I honestly stumbled upon it accidentally.
The trick is to have your own stash of Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water in the fridge and tell them that they can’t have it.
Seriously, no, it’s mine.
And all of a sudden our typical conversations about what they want to drink have changed.
“Can I have one of your waters?”
This simple desire to have something that I told them they can’t have was like reverse psychology. All of a sudden they wanted it. So I gave them each a bottle. And now they want more. They liked the refreshing taste and the bubbly sparkles.
“Why can’t you buy it for all of us?”
This is totally a parenting win because not only did I get them to avoid soda, I got them to choose sparkling mineral water which provides valuable minerals and trace elements their growing bodies need.
Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water – The Benefits of Mineral Water
Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water provides important minerals for a healthy body – calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate. Our bodies don’t actually produce these minerals so we need to get them from the food we eat or the things we drink, like Gerolsteiner!
We all know that calcium helps with strong bones and healthy teeth but it also supports the flow of impulses between nerves and muscles. It’s an especially important mineral for children, teens and pregnant women. Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water contains 84 mg of calcium per 8 fl. oz. which is s 35% of the recommended daily intake of calcium.
Magnesium helps support your body’s metabolism and is crucial for the proper functioning of muscles and your nervous system. Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water contains 26 mg of magnesium per 8 fl. oz. which is more than 25% of the recommended daily intake of magnesium.
Bicarbonate helps to regulate the acidity in your body and can minimize the effects of occasional heartburn. It also neutralizes the acid in your stomach. A liter of Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water contains more than 1,800 mg of bicarbonate. Bicarbonate also adds to the neutral and natural taste of Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water.
Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water does taste really refreshing and natural and I love that it has become my kids go-to choice when they are looking for something to drink. I even found a bottle of Gerolsteiner in the water bottle holder of my daughter’s bike.
While my kids have been sneaking my Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water, I have also been doing my own little detox to help promote the upcoming Gerolsteiner Sparkling Detox Challenge.

I have spent the last week making a conscious effort to drink only Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water in lieu of any other beverage. I normally drink only water, tea or coffee but giving up my coffee was a bit of a challenge. Especially because I normally have two cups in the morning and a cup in the afternoon. I started by giving up my afternoon cup and figured I’d wean myself off the morning cup. Honestly after a day or two I started to lose my taste for coffee and preferred the Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water first thing in the morning.
This detox also helped me pay more attention to what I was eating as well. I have felt more hydrated than ever, and I do believe I even had more energy during the day. I certainly wasn’t getting sleepy in the mid-afternoon like I usually do.
My kids and I will definitely continue to enjoy Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water as part of our daily routine. It tastes great and provides this mom with some added confidence that I am doing the best I can to help us all lead healthier lifestyles.
