As April looms near, so does the rain. While in general we don’t look forward to the rainy season because we want to get outside in the warm sunshine, the rain is a positive sign of what is to come – summer. Plus, my kids don’t care about getting wet, they love to splash around in it and get soaked. I can’t even count how many times my son has asked to go outside and play so far this year and I’ve had to tell him “it’s raining, you can’t go outside” because he just didn’t have proper rain gear.
Today my son played outside – BY HIMSELF- and not only did he enjoy it, he was fully prepared for whatever the weather threw at him.
Thanks to Team Mom, we received a fun and totally needed Batman rain collection to review.
Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Washington Shoe Company are unleashing the ultimate Bat-gadget this rainy season with a rain collection inspired by the favorite DC Comics Super Hero, Batman. What better way for young boys to bring their Batman powers to the streets than with a hooded rain slicker with removable cape, Batman boots and a matching Batman umbrella to help them take flight in their adventures.
The Batman-themed collection of rainwear by Washington Shoe Company, a leading manufacturer of footwear and fashion raingear, is geared towards kids and juniors and will retail at $36.95 for the boots, $16 for the umbrella and $50 for the raincoat. Boot sizes range from child’s size 5-13 and youth sizes 1-4. Raincoats are available from size 2T to 6X. The line features a removable cape which can be worn with or without the raincoat and glow in the dark logos so the little Super Heroes are safe even on the rainiest days.
Mom’s can swoop up the complete Batman rain collection at Nordstrom’s nationwide as well as select specialty stores.
I didn’t tell my son about the rain gear and left it on the table for him when he got home from school. It was in a wonderful blue box with the Batman logo on it and he opened it up and it was like Christmas!
Luckily we’d had some rain earlier in the day, and even though it was cold and windy outside, my son was eager to gear up and go out and have some great adventures. On top of being able to play outside in windy and rainy weather, Batman is one of his favorite characters so it really was a win-win for us.
The rain coat is fantastic and appears to be very high quality. We received a size 6x (my son wears a 6 or 7) and it fit him with room to spare which means it should fit him through the fall. It has a cloth liner so it won’t stick to them if they sweat, and it adds a layer of warmth to it as well. It also has a spot to write his name in it. The jacket is longer to give more protection to their pants from the rain, and his’s favorite part is the cape. It comes off and has velcro so he can wear it around his neck even when he is not wearing the rain coat, and this awesome cape has handles at the ends of it so he can pretend to fly around in true bat fashion.
The boots are nice and tall, roomy and quality construction. They are a size 1, which he currently wears and there seems to be a little bit of room to grow.
The umbrella seems durable and was easy for my son to work by himself, which is important for a kids umbrella. It would be really hard for a kid to pinch their fingers on it.
I really can’t think of any improvements except maybe to have a zippered pocket on the inside, there are no pockets at all that I could find, and sometimes you just need a pocket.
My son says he loves his Batman rain gear and has asked to wear it constantly – rain or shine. The sun was out this morning and I let him wear the rain coat and cape but drew the line at the boots and umbrella. The forecast shows no sign of rain today. He tried desperately to convince me he needed them though.
