Around my house, it’s important to have healthy yet convenient snacks available for after school, on the go, and those times when dinner is going to be just a little bit later than normal – which really is like every day. For some of these times we are able to grab fruit or a date bar but sometimes fruit isn’t practical and date bars are just too big and filling.
So when I was challenged to create a recipe for the Chiquita Cooking Lab using bananas, apples & oats, I knew I wanted to create something bite-sized that would be great for any situation when we need a quick snack.
Ingredients
- 3 cup uncooked not instant oats
- 3 Chiquita bananas mashed with fork
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 3/4 cup chopped dried apples
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Line a baking sheet (10"x15" max) with parchment paper.
- Combine all ingredients in a large bowl until oats & apples are completely blended into bananas (I Spread banana mixture onto baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until edges are slightly brown.
- Allow to cool then cut into 1" squares.
This was so super easy to make, we keep them in a jar in the fridge and my kids can grab a couple when they need a snack. They think they taste good, but I know they are healthy, which is a win-win.
